Summary

Soon to be a streaming series in Summer 2022!

Belly finds out what comes after falling in love in this follow-up to The Summer I Turned Pretty from the New York Times bestselling author of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (now a major motion picture!), Jenny Han。

It used to be that Belly counted the days until summer, until she was back at Cousins Beach with Conrad and Jeremiah。 But not this year。 Not after Susannah got sick again and Conrad stopped caring。 Everything that was right and good has fallen apart, leaving Belly wishing summer would never come。 But when Jeremiah calls saying Conrad has disappeared, Belly knows what she must do to make things right again。 And it can only happen back at the beach house, the three of them together, the way things used to be。 If this summer really and truly is the last summer, it should end the way it started—at Cousins Beach。

somehow this one was even more easy to read and im literally flying through these instead of studying for chem so yeah! i like how it dealt with grief and even if i felt like fighting some of the characters, it’s such a realistic portrayal of teenage angst that i can’t get too upset

Laila Wolfe

i rlly liked it not as good as the first one but was rlly enjoyable idk what it is but the conflict in the last two books always have me left amazed。

Mackenzie Wilson

This book was really good except it was very much more sad than the first one。。。 most of the time it was very depressing but it was still really good, not as much beachy vibes up until the end。 Loved it!

belly has got to be one of the most obnoxious to YA protagonist ive ever read like for real she’s the literary embodiment of the phrase “i can fix him 🥺” and its not cute at ALL。 the complete lack of self-awareness was infuriating。 don’t even get me started with conrad cause that selfish prick has got to be one of the worst make interest ever like i don’t even think he’s genuinely interested with her, it seems like he just like the idea of her being there bc she represents some ounce of normalcy belly has got to be one of the most obnoxious to YA protagonist ive ever read like for real she’s the literary embodiment of the phrase “i can fix him 🥺” and its not cute at ALL。 the complete lack of self-awareness was infuriating。 don’t even get me started with conrad cause that selfish prick has got to be one of the worst make interest ever like i don’t even think he’s genuinely interested with her, it seems like he just like the idea of her being there bc she represents some ounce of normalcy or consistency in his life but god… this one-dimensional genre of YA name interest is getting tiring。 lastly, jeremiah is the only tolerable character here if i have to be honest (besides from susanna of course) 。。。more

chapter 1-19: the book was sad and really boring at the beginning and ngl, it still hasn’t had a lot of energy。 susannah was the best character and her friendship and everything she stood for was so good and she was just a great role model for belly。 the way that she’s affected her sons is present but again, it’s incredibly on the surface。 conrad is sucking so a redemption arc would be great but the jeremiah povs are a good insight into how he’s affected as he’s consider the nicer and more relax chapter 1-19: the book was sad and really boring at the beginning and ngl, it still hasn’t had a lot of energy。 susannah was the best character and her friendship and everything she stood for was so good and she was just a great role model for belly。 the way that she’s affected her sons is present but again, it’s incredibly on the surface。 conrad is sucking so a redemption arc would be great but the jeremiah povs are a good insight into how he’s affected as he’s consider the nicer and more relaxed brother。 i also have no clue if conrads trying to do a brooding thing but a) it comes off as whiny and b) he doesn’t pull it off very well lmao。 taylor has loyalty issues in a way and as much as nelly is a pushover, so is taylor。 trying to help conrad on their own is sweet, but parent permission can help you from making poor decisions (especially when they’re minors acting like mini minors)。 tbh this book has bored me out and they are more mature, but i’m really hoping it gets better or number 3 is a bit more than dork diaries but make it less dorky and not a diary diary and NOT NEARLY AS ICONIC may i add。chapter 19-30: the pace was a bit picked up the characters are all in a major life crisis。 taylor is clearly mixed about belly, they’re still friends but at the same time i think they’re changing themselves which has impacted their friendship。 conrad is on his redemption arc and i still do think it’s pretty sweet that he wants to be a doctor。 mr fisher seems ill guided but i don’t think he truly understands what the summer house means, but i hope that maybe the summer house will bring jeremiah and conrad together。 i get that jeremiahs sweet but the brothers ex is off limit— especially when he clearly isn’t over him— the thing with belly is just hard for me to overlook ngl。 belly has messed up her teenage years with not only an infatuation, but i think a lot more is based on her not knowing what she wants。 her and taylor are more similar than they think and belly needs to truly get her priorities straight。 everyone’s wack but this part was better。chapter 30-end:jeremiah WHAT THE HECK。 also if Conrad knew she had the necklace, i wonder if he didn’t want to take it back。 belly getting drunk showed pure immaturity, a lot on jeremiahs part cause conrad wasn’t in the best place。 the mom coming just showed memories and her showing mr fisher his place, go off laurel。 i don’t think she’s over conrad and i’m really scared that she’s in a vulnerable place and being used。 the ending again was abrupt LIKE WHAT IS WITH THE SUDDEN RELATIONSHIPS。 Taylor is still so mixed and I feel like some things about her mentioned are a bit forced ngl, and that taylor trying to force belly to move past conrad or just the boys in general is actually something i appreciate, as much as her character is backstabbing。 I honestly didn’t like this one as much as the first just cause they’re all a bit wackier and there wasn’t as much character development as immaturity- I’d say a 2/5。 。。。more

Like how is it even possible to make that about yourself? I don’t know, but Belly did it。 Also, can she just choose one of them? Like this is getting out of hand。 I gave it two stars instead of one just because Belly’s mom did what we all wanted to do and gave her a big old sla Rating this book 2 stars is honestly a stretch。 It is like a 200 pages book that took me 20 days to read, which speaks for itself。 Belly literally makes everything about herself even when CONRAD AND JEREMIAH’S MOM DIED!!! honestly, this book felt like how all second books in a three book series feel, like a filler。 it definitely added to the story, and maybe it’s because i read it so fast, but it felt short。 like there should have been more but wasn’t。 i’m excited for the last book though!
